Commissioned by F&F, the SDA team embarked on a new office project situated in the verdant riverside area of the North Bund in 2017. This marked our third collaboration with the company, underscoring F&F’s esteem for SDA’s spatial design prowess.

F&F’s new office space occupies the penthouse of the Xinhua Insurance Plaza at the North Bund, boasting an impressive ceiling height of 5.8 meters and a sweeping panoramic view of the Bund, directly facing the Pudong Lujiazui financial centre. Balancing this breathtaking vista with the practical needs of the F&F office layout became a focal point of the project’s requirements.

After extensive dialogue with F&F, SDA opted to enclose only three meeting rooms, while maintaining several semi-closed spaces for various functions within an overarching open office layout. This strategic decision allows abundant natural light to permeate the office, fostering a cosmopolitan atmosphere through the expansive windows, seamlessly blending the essence of the Far East Modern city with F&F’s creative design workshop.

The design embodies clean, accentuated lines and a minimalist aesthetic to evoke a futuristic ambience, enhanced by contemporary office technology. We ingeniously rerouted electrical and building pipelines, exposing the original cement ceiling texture and structure and crowned it with straight LED strip lighting to create a setting reminiscent of science fiction. The juxtaposition of warm wood-toned office furniture and the cool grey flooring adds a welcoming touch. Through collaborative efforts between SDA, F&F, and our construction partner, this space design transcends mere theatrics, embodying the fruits of meticulous brainstorming and cooperation.
