The Kids Museum of Glass is the first nationally designed museum for children. This project turned the former glassware manufacturing plant into an educational wonderland that takes visitors on a kaleidoscope-like visual journey.

Working closely with COORDINATON, a design firm specializing in conceptualization, we redesigned this old manufacturing workshop into a multi-functional compound for exhibition, DIY workshops, a cafeteria, a souvenir shop and a party place. This 2000-square-foot space is dedicated to children from 4 to 10 years old, where they can learn about glass in fun and creative ways.

Following COORNIDATION’s design principles, sustainability and health consciousness became the basis of all the project design choices. Using recycled composite and particle boards wherever possible creates a funky, modern and engaging environment. The upfront visual effect for the visitors would be the natural materials chosen for the finishes, strong colour contrasts, and the dark trendy glass exterior. Equipped with air filtering technology, the central air condition system that has been put in place carries a special consideration to ensure clean fresh air while children stay indoors. The museum uses sustainable materials in all the exhibited items, to promote environmental protection and a better future for the next generations.

Now the Kids Museum Of Glass is a fast-growing new member of the G+ theme parks. The museum is turning into a fashionable design landmark in Shanghai, by its multifunctional setups and offbeat customer experience.
