As the world’s largest energy trading group, the head of Mercuria Group hopes that the design of their Shanghai office can reflect the internationalization and industry characteristics while integrating the elements of Chinese culture. The office is located on the 26th floor of Kerry Center in Pudong, opposite the Pudong Century Park. Most of the office areas have a fantastic view which overlooks the park and Lujiazui financial district.

Our design concept comes from the essence of traditional Chinese culture: a good combination of the mountain scenery and the waterscape. We designed a dynamic water feature in the spacious front hall, with five “Earths” models on top of a big white marble. A world map made of copper on the background wall introduces the strategic planning of Mercuria in global operations and reflects the core of the company’s primary business: “Metals”. Intelligent modernization is another aspect of the project. Our design team used electro-optic glass and lighting control systems to create a high-end office. This is also part of the company’s key cores: focus on energy saving, low carbon emissions and environmental protection.

The company is engaged in trading transactions that are linked with global time. To enhance the employees’ work experience, we have designed various typologies of resting and recreational areas.
